Russia issues Jan-Feb 2010 import and export data

SteelOrbis - According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal Customs Service, in the first two months of 2010 Russia exported 4.788 million metric tons of ferrous metals (excluding pig iron, ferroalloys and scrap) - up 23.3 percent, 2.817 million metric tons of semi-finished

steel products - up 43 percent, 1.33 million metric tons of flat rolled products - up 3.7 percent, 3.428 million metric tons of iron ore and concentrate - up 101.2 percent, 319,300 metric tons of coke and semi-coke - up 20.5 percent, and 129,400 metric tons of ferroalloys - up 6.9 percent, all compared to January-February 2009. Meanwhile, in January-February this year, Russia registered a 30 percent decrease year on year in its pig iron exports to 336,500 metric tons.

On the other hand, in the first two months of this year, Russia increased its ferrous metal imports (excluding pig iron, ferroalloys and scrap) by 85.7 percent to 551,300 metric tons, and raised its steel pipe imports by 11 percent to 110,500 metric tons, both compared to January-February last year.
