Sinopec Henan Branch has apologized to the public for allowing defective gasoline to be released onto the market and sold to consumers. Car owners found problems with their cars after filling up at Sinopec stations. Meng Lingqi reports on the results of the month-long investigation.

The Sinopec Anyang Branch brought the problem gasoline from a company in Shandong province between the 16th and 25th of March this year.

According to Sinopec's regulations, the gas needs to be tested and approved by Provincial and municipal levels before it can be released onto the market. But this didn't happened.

The Anyang Branch started to sell the gas before the test report came through from Sinopec Henan.

On the 31st of March the results came in. The fuel contained too much manganese among other things.

But, it was too late. 90 tons of gas had been sold.

Customer Shen Huiqing said, "I found my car was difficult to start, but not very serious. But later I found red water dropping out from the rear car. "

3 managers from Anyang Branch have since been dismissed after the incident.

Du Yubin of Sinopec Anyang said, "We would like to express our deep apologies for causing this inconvenience to consumers. We will learn a lesson from what's happened and strengthen our management."

A third party has been set-up to identify problematic cars to give reports to the car's owners.

They'll then be able to get free parts replacement, repair and gas refund all covered for free.
